About Palermo

From its notorious past with the Italian Mafia, Palermo has become a multiethnic safe haven for migrants stemming from Africa and the Middle East. From arriving in the island of Lampedusa, many refugees settle in Palermo.

Additionally, in the past decade, the city has attracted tourists from all over the world. Its delicious food, wonderful views, and rich history make it a prime destination for visitors. The locals, Palermitans, are very welcoming and proud of their Sicilian identity.
